CAT 2025 Slot 1: Jai Kishan’s First Attempt Journey from Nalanda

A candidate story from CAT 2025 Slot 1 has drawn attention after Jai Kishan from Nalanda, Bihar, appeared for his first CAT attempt at a Pune exam centre. With only 1 attempt of focused preparation, the aspirant described the paper as difficult but manageable, especially under exam pressure. Jai Kishan’s background, family journey, and future plans reflect the growing diversity among CAT aspirants in 2025. The candidate belongs to a defence family, with his father serving in the Indian Air Force, and is currently preparing for higher management studies after completing his graduation.

CAT 2025 Preparation Journey of Jai Kishan from Bihar

Jai Kishan completed his graduation in 2025 and began preparing for CAT shortly after. Due to limited preparation time and academic commitments, his focused CAT preparation lasted for nearly 1 attempt cycle. Despite the short duration, he stayed consistent with Quantitative Aptitude, Logical Reasoning, and Reading Comprehension practice. On the exam day, Jai Kishan travelled from Nalanda, Bihar to Pune, covering a long distance to report at the allocated CAT exam centre for Slot 1. He shared that travelling a day in advance helped him remain calm before the test. The pressure of a first attempt combined with an unfamiliar city added to the challenge. He described the paper as time-consuming, especially the DILR section, where set selection played a crucial role. VARC was lengthy, while Quant required careful selection due to calculation-heavy questions.

Family Background and Defence Influence on Career Choice

Before understanding Jai Kishan’s future academic plans, it is important to highlight the role of his family background. His father’s service in the Indian Air Force has significantly shaped his discipline, decision-making ability, and long-term career outlook. Growing up in a defence household in Nalanda district of Bihar, Jai Kishan was exposed early to structured routines and national service values. This background motivated him to aim for professional management education rather than conventional job roles. He believes that an MBA will allow him to combine leadership skills with practical business exposure.

CAT 2025 Slot 1 Experience and Future MBA Plans

After completing his CAT 2025 Slot 1 paper, Jai Kishan expressed mixed emotions. He admitted feeling nervous during VARC, confident in parts of Quant, and cautious during DILR set selection. As this was his first CAT attempt, he focused more on learning the real exam environment rather than chasing unrealistic score expectations. He plans to analyze his performance once the CAT 2025 response sheet and answer key are released. If required, Jai Kishan is prepared to continue structured preparation for the next admission cycle while also exploring management-related internships to strengthen his profile. His long-term goal is to secure admission in a reputed MBA college in India through CAT and build a career in operations or public sector consulting, aligned with his defence-influenced upbringing.
