CAT 2025 Mock Test LIVE: Check Details, Pattern, and Section Timings

The official mock test for CAT 2025 has been released today by the Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) on the CAT website. The mock test aims to help candidates get familiar with the exam interface, navigation, and type of questions asked in the Common Admission Test (CAT). The mock test includes selected questions inspired by past CAT papers and mirrors the computer-based environment that will be used during the actual examination.

CAT 2025 Mock Test Overview

The practice paper has been designed to give test-takers an authentic experience of the CAT interface. It covers multiple-choice (MCQ) as well as non-MCQ (TITA) questions, reflecting the kind of variety seen in recent CAT exams. The total duration of the mock test is 120 minutes for general candidates, divided equally across three sections — Verbal Ability & Reading Comprehension (VARC), Data Interpretation & Logical Reasoning (DILR), and Quantitative Ability (QA). Each section carries a 40-minute limit, after which candidates automatically move to the next part. Candidates belonging to the Persons with Disabilities (PwD) category are provided 40 additional minutes, extending the total time to 160 minutes, in line with the actual CAT 2025 exam guidelines.

Purpose of the Mock Test

According to the official update, the CAT 2025 Mock Test has been released solely for practice and familiarization purposes. It is intended to help aspirants understand the exam interface, navigation tools, and question format, rather than to predict the actual structure or difficulty level of the upcoming CAT paper. The number, type, and distribution of questions in the mock test are indicative and may differ in the final exam. The IIMs have clarified that the final exam pattern for CAT 2025 could vary depending on decisions made by the conducting authority.

Section Navigation and Timing

In this mock version, a “Submit” button has been added within each section to allow candidates to move forward even before the 40-minute timer expires. This has been implemented purely for practice convenience. However, in the actual CAT 2025 exam, section transitions will be strictly time-controlled, and candidates will not be able to switch to the next section until the allotted 40 minutes are completed.

Key Details at a Glance

  • Mock Test Duration: 120 minutes (Non-PwD) / 160 minutes (PwD)
  • Sections: VARC, DILR, QA
  • Question Types: MCQs and Non-MCQs
  • Objective: Familiarization with interface and question format
  • Conducting Body: IIMs under CAT 2025

Conclusion

The release of the CAT 2025 mock test marks a crucial phase in the preparation journey for MBA aspirants. By replicating the exam interface and timing constraints, it allows candidates to assess their readiness, refine strategies, and build familiarity with the online platform well in advance. Although the mock test is not an exact reflection of the final paper, it remains one of the most reliable tools for last-minute practice and confidence building before the national-level examination on November 30, 2025.
