The Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) has announced the eligibility criteria for the Prosecution Officer (Assistant Prosecution Officer) Recruitment 2026. Candidates interested in applying must fulfil the educational qualifications and age limits specified in the official notification before submitting the application form. The recruitment drive aims to fill 300 vacancies in the Prosecution Directorate under the Home Department, Government of Bihar. Eligible law graduates can apply through the official BPSC recruitment portal.

 

BPSC Prosecution Officer 2026 Educational Qualification

Candidates applying for the Prosecution Officer post must possess a law degree from a recognised university. The qualification requirement ensures that applicants have adequate legal knowledge to handle prosecution-related responsibilities. The required educational qualifications include:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Law (LLB) from a recognised university
  • Both 3-year LLB and 5-year integrated law courses are accepted
  • Candidates must be eligible for registration as an Advocate in a court of law

This qualification is mandatory for candidates to be considered eligible for the recruitment examination.

 

BPSC APO 2026 Age Limit and Relaxation

The commission has specified category-wise age limits for applicants applying for the Prosecution Officer recruitment. The age will be calculated as on 01 August 2026. The prescribed age criteria are as follows:

  • Minimum age: 21 years
  • Maximum age for UR (male): 37 years
  • Maximum age for UR female and BC/EBC candidates: 40 years
  • Maximum age for SC/ST candidates: 42 years

The Bihar government provides additional age relaxation to eligible categories according to official recruitment rules.
