The civic body of Bhiwandi town in Maharashtra's Thane district has conducted a detailed review to improve the quality of education in 92 primary and 11 secondary municipal schools. The meeting was held on November 28, 2025, under the leadership of BNCMC Commissioner and Administrator Anmol Sagar.
The BNCMC review focused on student dropout trends, level-based teaching, PAT (periodic assessment test) results, ASR, and NIPUN Bharat reports. The administration aims to strengthen classroom learning and improve the overall academic performance of municipal school students.
Public relations officer Shrikant Pardeshi stated that the administration is committed to ensuring the all-round development of students. He added that the commissioner highlighted the importance of strengthening learning outcomes through consistent monitoring and targeted interventions.
Commissioner orders action on poor PAT performance
During the meeting, the commissioner instructed officials to take strict action against principals of schools that recorded below-normal PAT performance. The directive aims to hold school leadership accountable and encourage better academic planning.
He also stressed the need to identify learning gaps at an early stage. As part of this effort, officials will closely track assessment outcomes and help schools implement corrective measures.
BNCMC focuses on infrastructure improvement in schools
The commissioner also directed officials to inspect schools with deteriorating infrastructure. He asked them to prepare and submit renovation proposals under the District Planning Fund. This step is expected to help upgrade school buildings, classrooms, and sanitation facilities that have not been repaired for years.
A senior officer committee will review each proposal before final approval. The focus is on ensuring that students study in safe and functional classrooms.
Flying squad to monitor learning levels in Classes 3 and 5
The administration has also decided to form a flying squad of senior officers to assess the study levels of students in Classes 3 and 5. The squad will conduct surprise visits, interact with students, and check whether the learning outcomes match the standards set under NIPUN Bharat.
These inspections will help the administration track real-time progress and plan classroom-level interventions.
Mid-day meal to include protein-rich food and fruits
The commissioner also instructed officials to improve the nutritional quality of mid-day meals. Schools have been directed to include protein-rich dishes and seasonal fruits for students. The move aims to support children’s health and enhance their ability to focus during school hours.
The BNCMC reported that these steps will be implemented in a phased manner. The administration will continue to monitor the progress of each school through regular reports and inspections.
