The cabinet has approved INR 519.64 crore specifically for revising scholarship rates for SC and ST students. The updated scholarship amounts have been doubled compared to the earlier figures set in 2011. The revised slabs vary by class level and residential status. The annual scholarship rates for SC/ST students are now:

The same revised scholarship structure will apply to BC and EBC categories under the updated scheme. This step is expected to expand educational opportunities for students from socially and economically disadvantaged communities.

Hostel Subsidy and Income Limit Increased for BC and EBC Scholarships

The government has proposed additional improvements for BC and EBC scholarship eligibility and support. The following key changes have been approved:

  • Monthly hostel subsidy revised from INR 1,000 to INR 2,000
