Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham has inaugurated the Amrita International School of Law (AISL) at its Coimbatore campus. The new school will offer integrated undergraduate programmes in law and emphasize ethical values over mere technological advancement, especially in fields like artificial intelligence.

The Amrita International School of Law offers two five-year integrated honours law programmes: BA LLB (Honours) and BBA LLB (Honours). Specialisations include AI & Law, Environmental Law, Digital Rights, International Arbitration, and Legal-Tech Integration. Experiential training through moot courts and international exposure are part of the curriculum. Applications are open now for the first batch of students. Infrastructure includes a newly inaugurated moot court hall and updated academic facilities.
Inauguration & Institutional Vision
The law school was officially inaugurated by Union Minister of State for Law and Justice & Parliamentary Affairs, Arjun Ram Meghwal, who emphasised that “values over artificial intelligence” must guide legal education. He stated that while AI, IoT, and related technologies are powerful tools, constitutional morality and human values cannot be replaced. Chief Justice of the Rajasthan High Court Justice K R Shriram was the Guest of Honour, while Madras High Court Justice L Victoria Gowri delivered the keynote address.
Why Emphasis on Values & Ethics?
According to Amrita, AISL is envisioned not just as a training ground for legal skills but as an institute that integrates professional excellence with strong ethical foundations, compassion, and social responsibility. This is seen as especially important given the growing role of technology in legal systems.
