Amity University has been honoured with the Best Patent Portfolio (2020–25) Award at the eleventh CII IP Industrial Awards 2025. The award was presented under the category of Academic Institution – Private University and Top 30 IP Driven Organisations. The ceremony was held during the CII Global Summit on Technology, Research and Development, and Intellectual Property in New Delhi.
The recognition highlights Amity University’s consistent contribution to research, innovation, and intellectual property creation. The award reflects the university’s strong focus on developing a robust patent ecosystem over the last five years.
Amity University Recognition at CII IP Industrial Awards 2025
The award was received by Aseem Chauhan, Chancellor, Amity University, along with Balvinder Shukla, Vice-Chancellor, Amity University Uttar Pradesh. It was presented by Ashutosh Sharma, Chairman, CII Industrial IP Awards, during the formal ceremony.

Statement by Amity University Chancellor on Patent Importance
While accepting the award, Chancellor Aseem Chauhan emphasised the importance of patents in driving innovation. He stated that intellectual property plays a vital role in strengthening research outcomes and transforming ideas into practical solutions.
He also highlighted India’s improving global standing in innovation. According to him, India ranks 38th in the Global Innovation Index 2025, which reflects stronger government support, enhanced knowledge output, and growing innovation capabilities across institutions. He noted that universities play a key role in supporting this national progress through sustained research and patent activity.

Congratulating Amity University, Ashutosh Sharma stated that the award recognises institutions that are actively reshaping India’s research and innovation ecosystem. He observed that India currently stands at the sixth position globally in patent filings, indicating the country’s rapid transition from a knowledge consumer to a global knowledge creator.
He further underlined that intellectual property has become central to economic growth, technology development, and global competitiveness. Academic institutions, according to him, are crucial partners in strengthening India’s innovation framework.
