AFCAT 1 2026 Exam Analysis: Paper Pattern, Difficulty & Expected Cut-off

The Air Force Common Admission Test (AFCAT 1 2026) for recruitment into the Indian Air Force (IAF) is being held on 31 January 2026 in online mode across numerous centres nationwide. The exam will be conducted in two shifts, and section-wise live exam analysis will be provided once both sessions conclude.

AFCAT 1 Exam Structure and Pattern

The AFCAT 1 exam follows a computer-based test (CBT) format with a total of 100 objective-type questions covering the following areas:

  • General Awareness
  • Verbal Ability in English
  • Numerical Ability
  • Reasoning and Military Aptitude Test

The paper carries 300 marks, with each correct answer awarding 3 marks and each incorrect response attracting a 1-mark deduction for negative marking

Shift Timings and Conduct

  • Shift 1: 9:45 AM to 11:45 AM
  • Shift 2: 2:45 PM to 4:45 PM

Candidates are advised to arrive at the exam centres well before the reporting times to complete verification procedures smoothly.

What the Analysis Will Cover?

Once the AFCAT 1 exam is completed for both slots, the live exam analysis will include:

  • Section-wise difficulty level
  • Overall challenge rating
  • Distribution of questions by topic
  • Estimated good attempts
  • Expected cut-off trends

This analysis helps candidates gauge their performance relative to others and anticipate their qualifying chances before the official result announcement.

Expected Cut-off and Next Stage

Based on trends from past years and early feedback, the expected cut-off for AFCAT exams typically varies with overall difficulty and candidate performance. Candidates who score above the projected cut-off will qualify for the next stage — the Air Force Selection Board (AFSB) interview and assessment.

What Candidates Should Do Post-Exam?

After taking the AFCAT 1 2026 exam:

  1. Check the live exam analysis to understand difficulty patterns.
  2. Compare your attempts with expected good attempt ranges.
  3. Stay updated for the AFCAT 1 2026 result, likely to be declared in February 2026.
  4. Prepare for the AFSB interview if shortlisted.

Candidates are advised to rely on official IAF and test analysis updates rather than unofficial speculation to estimate results and next steps.
